Arna Kimiai was not wearing a facemask as she entered the car, whereas her two friends were wearing one. At the time, the Uber program’s user agreement stated that all users and drivers had to wear a facemask, considering the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a few minutes, Subhakar Khadke noticed that Arna Kimiai was not wearing a facemask and requested her to wear one. However, Arna and her friends responded to this with inappropriate comments as Arna refused to wear any kind of facemask.
Arna Kimiai even deliberately coughed on the Uber driver and attempted to rip off his mask and snatch the phone in which he was recording this assault on him. Later, this video was posted to various social media platforms and became viral. Arna Kimiai surrendered to the police and was charged with attempted robbery, battery, and violating health ordinances.
