In Manhattan, New York City on the 4th of April 1965, Robert Downey Jr was born to the family of Robert Downey Sr, an actor and filmmaker, and Elsie Ann, an actress.
He grew up alongside his older sister Allyson in Greenwich Village. He attended the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center in New York as a teenager before proceeding to Santa Monica High School.
However, he could not complete his education at Santa Monica because of his parents’ divorce to pursue a full-time career in acting which was influenced because he had taken up minor roles in his father’s films at a very young age.

Personal Life
In 1984, Robert dated actress Sarah Jessica Parker after meeting her on the set of the movie, Firstborn. The love story lasted for seven years before their separation because of his drug addiction.
On the 29th of May 1992, Robert got married to Deborah Falconer after courting her for 42 days. They welcomed their first child a year later. The union, however, was not smooth sailing as Robert’s repeated trips to the rehab and jail took a toll on it.
